Dr. T.C. Rao was born on 07 July 1957 in a military family in Kailashpur (Dhani Jatusana), a small village in Rewari district, to Mrs. Nihal Kaur and Subedar Ramchandra. He was interested in sports and new experiments since childhood. Drawing inspiration from the military traditions of his forefathers, Dr. Rao joined the Indian Army on September 16, 1976, as a hockey player, through the sports quota, after passing his eleventh standard. He grew up in a military family, his great-grandfather, grandfather and father were all from the army background and the family has served the country for more than 200 years. It is also a matter of pride that his father fought in the Sino-Indian War of 1962 and the Indo-Pakistani Wars of 1965 and 1971, along with seven brothers in the family. Due to his intelligence and hard work, Dr. Rao got his Ph.D in Defense Studies. and M.A. in four subjects while serving in the Army. Did. He also got commissioned in the Army as a PC/SL Record Officer, through lateral entry, and proved his mettle. Dr. Rao served a total of 24 years in the army and spent 19 years in studies, thus setting an example in the Indian Army.
